   Abstract= {"This article contributes to the literature on older workers and employment, providing a regional perspective on the relationship between age and work. The study is based on interviews in conjunction with occupational-event calendars with 56 individuals in North West England. The primary aim was to gain in-depth understanding of perceived constraints that older people feel hinder their employment prospects within the context of their daily lives. Significant constraints on employment and re-employment were identified and attributed to health, negative perceptions of self, lack of formal human capital and undervaluation of experience, financial disincentives for employers to employ older workers and prevailing ageist attitudes."    Abstract= {"In diesem Beitrag werden die Ergebnisse einer Metaanalyse zu den Wechselwirkungen von Bildung und Gesundheit im Alter vorgestellt. Hierbei wird auf nationale sowie internationale Längsschnittstudien Bezug genommen, welche im Rahmen einer Feldsondierung und zur Identifizierung von Forschungsschwerpunkten einer Projekt-Forschungsarbeit durchgeführt wird. In diesem Projekt ' Perspective of Ageing' des Marsilius-Kolleg' soll die protektive Funktion von Bildungsprozessen' für gesundes Altern identifiziert werden. Der Fokus der Analyse der Längsschnittstudien liegt auf der Entwicklung von Bildungsprozessen in (informellen) Lernkontexten und den Auswirkungen auf die Gesundheit im Alter (im Sinne von Kompetenz zur selbstbestimmten Lebensführung). Eine lebenslaufperspektivische Analyse soll den unterschiedlichen Umgang mit kognitiven und physischen Beeinträchtigungen sowie Entwicklung von Handlungskompetenz -- im Sinne der Entwicklung von Kompensationsstrategien -- verdeutlichen."    Abstract= {"This paper presents the results of a meta-analysis of the interdependencies between education and health in old age. In this connection an analysis of national and international longitudinal studies was carried out, which were conducted to explore the field of research and to identify analytical priorities for a research project. In this project 'perspective of-ageing' conducted of the Marsilius-Kolleg' the intention is to identify the prophylactic function of educational processes' für heal-thy aging. The emphasis of the analysis of longitudinal studies is on the development of informal educational processes in learning contexts and their impact on health in old age (in terms of independent living skills). The life career analysis is meant to illustrate the treatment of various types of cognitive and physical impairment as well as the empowerment of decision-making -- in the terms of the development of compensatory strategies and responsibility."
